Ways to Enjoy Park City in Spring, Summer and Fall
Mountain Adventures Year-Round
Park City is renowned worldwide for its top-tier skiing and snowboarding, but this snowy mountain town is far from a one-season wonder. Whether you visit during the summer or when the leaves change, there’s always something exciting to do in the mountains. Today, we’ve put together a list of the best activities to enjoy in spring, summer, and fall in Park City, ensuring you have a memorable experience no matter the season.
Spring
Enjoy Some Spring Skiing and Boarding
Springtime in Park City is the best of both worlds. Not only is there a chance of warmer weather, you’ll also find the slopes less crowded than they would be during the busier winter months. And with Deer Valley Resort keeping its doors open into April, there’s no reason to miss out on skiing and boarding just because you’ve arrived when the weather has begun to get warmer–just plan your runs for earlier in the day to catch the freshest snow, then head out into town for spring celebrations.
Attend the Park City Powderfest for a Good Cause
Each year, Park City puts on the Park City Powderfest (formerly known as Pink Park City) to benefit the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, a center whose mission is to better understand and treat all types of cancer. This fun-filled day for a cause features live music, a rememberance wall where loved ones can post a memorial, and more mountain fun. Most importantly, all of the funds raised go towards eradicating and treating cancer and participation is free to all.
Easter Egg Hunt
If you happen to visit Park City during Eastertime, there’s something for the kids as well: Easter egg hunting! This annual springtime celebration is marked each year by the Local’s Easter Egg Hunt for kids ages 1 through 10 years old. Let your kiddos compete to find the Golden Egg along with a bunch of other special prizes.
Summer
Stand-Up Paddleboarding Adventures
Located only a few minutes from Main Street, Park Valley SUP is the area’s provider for stand-up paddleboarding adventures and makes for a great summertime activity. If it’s your first time on a SUP, take some time to find your balance on the board (kneeling can make it easier) before you start your ride, but once there, it’ll be smooth sailing in the midst of Utah’s gorgeous mountains.
For those who are feeling extra adventurous, check out paddleboard yoga classes held by Park City Yoga Adventures for a more unique experience, where you’ll find yourself inside of the majestic Homestead Crater for this water adventure.
Enjoy a Rafting Adventure
Rafting is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re on the hunt for a thrilling summertime activity in Park City, check out Park City Rafting. This action-packed adventure puts you on a raft with experienced guides to make your way down the Weber River, and you can choose from a less-intense half-day excursion or a more extreme full-day experience, depending upon your comfort levels.
Take In the Sights of the Park Silly Sunday Market
Each Sunday from June through September, Park City’s Park Silly Sunday Market becomes the center of town. This fun pop-up event is an open-air market, giving artists and small businesses a chance to sell their wares and show off their talents where everyone can see. Each summer, thousands of residents and visitors alike flock to this market to have a good time and explore all of the artistic and community offerings.
Fall
Hike the Scenic Trails
What better time to enjoy the scenery of Park City than taking a gorgeous hike smack dab in the middle of fall? There are plenty of hiking trails surrounding the Park City area that offer incredible views of the mountains, including Blood’s Lake Trail and Dawn’s Trail. Next time you’re in town during the first blush of fall, think about stepping outside and enjoying the bounty of nature during this magical time of year.
Fly-Fish Park City’s Rivers
Fly-fishing is a popular sport across the West, and for good reason: it gives you an excuse to be outdoors, in the midst of the water, while also granting you the opportunity to catch some of the best trout in the state. Park City Fly Fishing Company offers lessons and guided trips that will make your next fall fishing trip one to remember for years to come.
Go Leaf-Peeping on a Scenic Drive
Scenic drives through the mountains are always a fun activity, but it’s even better when summer is turning into fall and the leaves are changing colors. Next time you’re on the hunt for a fun fall activity, think about driving down the Guardsman Pass Scenic Byway, which will take you on a route of the backcountry of Utah and provide amazing views of the yellow and red fall colors. If you’d like to extend your drive, connect from here with Big Cottonwood Canyon to see even more gorgeous fall landscapes.
