Creative Spots for Coworking in Telluride

Coworking and Remote Work Spots in Telluride

Remote work has experienced a boom over the last few years, and as of 2023, Forbes reported that 12.7% of full-time employees now have the ability to work from anywhere and everywhere, as long as they have a working WiFi connection. And with 16% of companies operating fully remote, there’s very few reasons for workers to get back into the office.

For many people, the rise of coworking and remote work leads to more opportunities to travel, and there’s nowhere more serene to get some work done than in the Southern Colorado mountains.

Join us today as we explore some of the best places to cowork and remote work while you’re staying in Telluride, Colorado.

Get Some Focused Work Done at Alt Space Coworking

If going into the office every day helps to keep you accountable, a great option for coworking in Telluride is their dedicated coworking space, Alt Space Coworking. Located across from Telluride Intermediate School on Colorado Avenue, the central location makes it easily accessible for those who are staying in town or just outside of it.

With such amenities as blazing fast fiber internet, a conference room, private offices and open concept workspaces, phone booths, 24/7 access for members, and community building events to network with locals, you have everything you need at Alt Space for a productive and satisfying workday. Drop in for a marathon coding session or a day packed with meetings–there’s plenty of things you can strike off your to-do list when you visit this coworking spot.

Stay Cozy and Warm at the Wilkinson Public Library

Not looking to spend money to have an office for a day? Head over to the Wilkinson Public Library, found on Pacific Avenue in the western part of town. This sprawling two-story library opened up in 2000 and was named after Larry and Betty Wilkinson, two of the first champions for libraries in Telluride who helped open the very first branch in town back in 1976.

At this cozy library, you’ll find all of the typical things you’ll need for a good day’s work: dedicated workstations with computers, desks for you to work on your laptop, meeting tables, and inspirational art to keep your creative juices flowing. There’s even an “Unusual Items” section of the library, which houses tons of helpful items that can be loaned out for personal use, such as camping gear, photography equipment, and more.

Take Some Coworking Tasks Up to Telluride’s Mountain Village

For those who want to spend the day on the mountain skiing the runs in between client meetings and work tasks, you’ll find no better place to do it than in Mountain Village, where free WiFi is always available.

Park yourself at one of the restaurants, such as The Pick or Telluride Coffee Company, for a day of work, or head over to one of the public plazas to enjoy some sunshine while you cross some items off of your task list.

One of the best places to work while enjoying sunset views is at the Sunset Plaza, located off of Heritage Plaza down a gorgeous cobblestone walkway. This western-facing and grassy plaza is gorgeous during the summertime and will allow you to watch the sun’s progress as it falls behind the mountains for the day.

Grab a Few Baked Goods While You Work at Baked in Telluride

Bagels, coffee, and good company–what more could you ask for when coworking in Telluride? You’ll find all that and more at Baked in Telluride, the town’s local bakery, coffee shop, and restaurant. This establishment has been around since 1976, and although it came under new ownership back in 2018, it still retains its reputation as a Telluride staple for baked goods, bagels, and eats.

Enjoy free WiFi at this shop, which has plenty of places to sit down and get into work for a few hours. Be sure to try out some of their baked goods, such as the plate-sized donuts or the foot-long maple bars, while you’re there. There are also plenty of other offerings on their menu, such as the delicious potato knishes or the turkey empanada, and hot sandwiches like Reubens and meatball subs as well.

Enjoy BBQ and Local Color While Remote Working at Oak

Although it seems like Telluride would be home to numerous coffee shops to work out of, that’s not the case, so remote workers have to get creative when finding places to work for the day. One of the best hidden places in town to get some work done is at Oak, a BBQ restaurant located right next to Camel’s Garden Hotel and conveniently close to the gondola to Mountain Village.

This spot is perfect for a sunny day spent at one of their outside tables, getting through your work tasks and meetings. Reviewers recommend their sliders and margaritas over and over–these are usually your best bet for a delicious lunch or dinner after you’ve finished your work tasks.
