A Day Trip to Park City: A Winter Itinerary
How to Enjoy One Day in Park City
A trip to Park City is one that you’ll remember forever, no matter if you get to visit for a week or just one day. A single day may not seem like enough to absorb all of the sights, sounds, and activities of the city, but if one action-packed day is all you have, you might as well fill it up to the brim. Whether you want to prioritize hitting the slopes early in the morning or you’re more into checking out all of Park City’s best restaurants and attractions while you’re in town, we’ve got you covered.
Follow along with us as we detail the perfect one-day winter itinerary for Park City, Utah.
A Mountain Morning in Park City
8am: No matter if you’re staying in town the night before or just driving into Park City, it’s important to get up bright and early to pack your day with sights and activities. Start off with a visit to the well-known Bridge Cafe and Grill, located on Main Street just steps away from the Town Lift. Here, you’ll find traditional breakfast favorites with a Brazilian twist, such as the customizable Brazuca Omelette or the Burrinho Burrito.
9am-12:30pm: After fueling up for a morning spent on the mountain, grab your gear and head over to the Town Lift to start your skiing or boarding adventures for the day. With 348 trails to choose from, however, it can be hard to know where to start. Beginners should try out green runs like First Time and Home Run, while intermediate riders will enjoy the thrills of Mel’s Alley. For experts, runs like East Face and Molly’s are popular as well.
An In-Town Afternoon
1pm: Now that you’ve had your fill of on-mountain adventuring for the day, you’ll likely be getting quite hungry at this point. For an unbelievably-delicious lunch, head over to the High West Saloon, just a few minute’s walk away from the Town Lift.
There are a few saloons in town, but none of them offer upscale eats like this one does. Run by High West Distillery, this saloon also offers a great selection of whiskey and other spirits that come directly from the source. While you’re there, be sure to check out their take on Chicken and Waffles or if you’re interested in more traditional mountain fare, take a look at the Rocky Mountain Trout entree for a scrumptious meal.
2-4pm: After a morning bursting with activity, it’s nice to slow down a bit with a stroll through the streets of Park City. Visit some nearby art galleries or explore all of the shops and boutiques that line Main Street during this time to get a feel for the town.
4-6pm: Get cozy with one of Park City’s most unique attractions: a standup paddleboard yoga class in Homestead Crater. Although you’ll have to sacrifice 30 minutes driving there, it’s more than worth it to head out to Midway and experience this one-of-a-kind activity. Winter might be cold, but inside of the crater the water stays a balmy 95 degrees year-round, so don’t worry too much about falling in.
Enjoy Evening Experiences in Park City
7pm: Get ready for another once-in-a-lifetime experience in Park City, this time with dinner built in. Since 1990, the Snowed in Sleigh Company has offered sleigh rides along with delicious dinners, all served in a yurt to protect you from the snow. Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride up the mountain to the yurt before sitting down to a meal you’ll remember forever. There’s even an option for the vegetarians and kids in your party, so all the members of your group or family can enjoy a meal on the mountain together.
9pm: Finally, we’ve reached the end of a long day in Park City. Even if you’re tired at this point, there’s still time to pack in one more activity: stargazing. Take a quick drive over to Jordanelle State Park and find a picnic table or lay out a blanket and gaze at the stars overhead. Because Jordanelle State Park is Dark Sky certified, you’ll have a much higher chance of seeing shooting stars and constellations than you would in the well-lit center of Park City. Be sure to pack a warm coat to keep you toasty during your stargazing experience.
