Not looking to wander too far from town but still want an adventure? Frisco is the first stop on our day trip tour, and there’s a ton of activities to fill up an afternoon before you head back to Breck.
If you’re looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of Breck’s ski slopes or just want to bring your family for a snow day, check out the Frisco Adventure Park, which includes a small skiing and tubing area (that requires reservations, so book ahead of time).
For the history buffs in your party, be sure to visit the Frisco Historic Park and Museum, which has a ton of educational resources to educate visitors about the town and its storied history.
If you’re visiting during the warmer months of the year, a trip to the Frisco Bay Marina would be right up your alley, where you can rent kayaks and pontoon boats to explore the beautiful waters of Frisco Bay, also known as Dillon Reservoir.
Dillon: 15mi/26 min Drive from Breckenridge
On the other side of the reservoir lies a scenic town worth visiting on a daytrip from Breckenridge: Dillon.
Spend a day on Dillon Reservoir, where you can ice-fish during the colder months or rent a boat during the summertime to catch as many fish as your heart desires.
If you’re a live music fan visiting during the warmer months, Dillon is the perfect destination–you won’t want to miss a concert at the Dillon Amphitheater that sits right on the edge of the lake, providing unparalleled views as you enjoy your favorite live music.
Leadville: 40mi/ 50 min drive from Breckenridge
Located at over 10,000 feet in elevation, Leadville boasts one of the highest elevations of any incorporated city in the entire country. Whether you’re looking for a mountain hike or just a stroll through the town, Leadville has got it all.
For those looking to take in as many mountain views as possible, hiking up Mt. Elbert is an aspiration to any mountaineers looking to add a 14er to their list of summits. Mt. Elbert is also the highest peak in Colorado, so be prepared for intense conditions and sudden changes in the weather if you decide to take this 9.5 mile hike.
If you’re a fan of golf and decide to visit during the warmer months of the year, Mt. Massive Golf Course is a great spot to check out. Located at over 9,000 feet in elevation, this golf course is among the highest-elevation courses in the country, offering some amazing views while you try your luck getting a hole-in-one.
