Travel Solo to North Lake Tahoe

Traveling solo is one of life’s greatest pleasures. While it can be great to have your family and friends around while you’re exploring new places, there’s something to be said for enjoying a new locale on your own. Not only do you get the opportunity to see and experience all of the things you’ve dreamt of (with no one else’s plans or problems getting in the way), solo travel is also a great way to meet new people and find spontaneous adventures while staying in our Lake Tahoe vacation rentals.

Today, we’ll be sharing with you a fantastic 3-day summer itinerary in North Lake Tahoe for all the solo travelers out there.

Day 1: Your Summer Adventure Begins

  • 9am: Once you’ve checked into your accommodations (we highly recommend any of these North Lake Tahoe mountain cabins), it’s time for your North Lake Tahoe adventures to begin. Start your day off right and stop in at Rosie’s Cafe, located in Tahoe City, for an unbelievable breakfast–be sure to try out the Chicken Fried Steak or the Biscuits and Gravy, both of which are highly recommended by locals and tourists alike.

  • 11am: Now that your belly is full for the exciting day ahead, head on over to Kings Beach for a refreshing swim in the gorgeous crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe.

  • 1pm: Getting hungry for lunch? While you’re hanging out in the beautiful town of Kings Beach, stop by The Grid Bar and Grill for a delicious meal. We recommend the Fish Tacos or the Chicken Tenders for a filling and tasty lunch.

  • 2pm: Hop in the car and take a quick drive over to Sand Harbor State Park, located about 10 miles down the road from Kings Beach. There is a $10 admission fee to enter, but once you’re there, you’ll have access to some of the most beautiful hiking trails on the eastern side of the lake. Take a nice stroll along the beach and soak in all the magic of the Tahoe area.

  • 5pm: Treat yourself to an incredible meal to round off your day at Wolfdale’s, located in Tahoe City. This fine-dining spot has been around since 1978 and features a brilliant fusion of Asian and European cuisine.

Day 2: Immerse Yourself in Lake Tahoe’s Culture and Arts

  • 9am: To prepare yourself for the long day of adventuring ahead, take a trip to Fire Sign Cafe in Tahoe City for a tasty Breakfast Burrito, filled with 3 scrambled eggs, house-made chorizo sausage, veggies, and tons of cheese.

  • 11am: The first gallery stop of the day is at the Eadington Gallery, also located in Tahoe City, which features both awe-inspiring landscape photography along with locally-created fine art. Enjoy the view or go all-out and purchase your favorite prints!

  • 1pm: After an art-filled morning, take a trip to Tahoe National Brewing Company for a brew and a meal that’ll wow your taste buds.

  • 2pm: The next artsy stop is located right next to Commons Beach: North Tahoe Arts Gallery and Artisan Shop. If the timing is right, think about trying out one of their classes or workshops to improve your own craft.

  • 4pm: For the last art gallery of the day, take the short drive over to Kings Beach for a stop in at the North Tahoe Arts Center.

  • 6pm: Have a dinner you’ll never forget in Kings Beach at Soule Domain, an upscale eatery located inside of a vintage log cabin.

Day 3: Enjoy the Waters and Views

  • 9am: For breakfast on your last day in town, stop by Syd’s Bagelry in Tahoe City and try out some of the best bagels in the West. Their Breakfast Burrito also comes highly recommended.

  • 11am: Head on down to Zephyr Cove Resort (located on the southeast side of the lake) to hop on the MS Dixie II, Tahoe’s own sightseeing boat, for a cruise that you’ll never forget.

  • 1pm: For lunch, head back over to Tahoe City to stop in at Moe’s Original Bar B Que. Be sure to check out their ever-popular “Bama Style” Pulled Pork Sandwich while you’re there.

  • 2pm: Take a trip over to Tahoe City’s Treetop Adventures, a ropes and obstacle course set high up on platforms in the trees. Enjoy the unbelievable mountain and lake views as you scramble through the forest canopy.

  • 5pm: For an early dinner, stop in at Christy Hill Restaurant in Tahoe City for some more incredible views and high-end food that’ll make your heart soar.

  • 8pm: Take a short drive over to the Hyatt in Incline Village to sit in front of the firepits and make s’mores as you watch the sun set, ending your trip on the best note ever.

Take North Lake Tahoe By Storm When Traveling Solo

North Lake Tahoe has its share of families and large group travelers, but that doesn’t mean there’s no room left for a solo adventure. Bask in the summer sun on Kings Beach, experience the scenic vistas from the deck of the MS Dixie II, and frolic in the tree tops at Treetop Adventures–there’s no other vacation quite like it.
